Hicham Lahlou is a designer and artist of his time. His philosophical questioning and his vision of things have been shaped thanks to– or due to – the complexity of the world in which he lives but also thanks to the people he has met in the four corners of the globe, artists, politicians, architects, painters, sculptors, journalists, singers, fashion designers, creators, patrons of the arts, industrialists, collectors, gallery owners, businessmen, presidents of associations, engineers, technicians, craftsmen, celebrities or anonymous people…

His rich background is full of successes, with more than 2000 creations in his sketch books and projects that have marked minds, both for their innovative and creative side and for the values that he has breathed into them. Hicham Lahlou is one of those creators who give meaning to what they do and who distil some soul into objects which are, he says, “made of matter but capable of arousing emotion and surprise.”Listening to him talk about Design is being projected to try and understand why it is sometimes helpful to dwell a little longer on what could seem, at first sight, ordinary, superficial and useless.Hicham Lahlou sees in Design an echo of the human condition.

It is also almost a mission for him to raise the colours of a youth full of creativity and ambitions. He has thus been a member of the jury to find future talents in Section 2 of the Stars of Science competition in 2010 in Qatar orin the Roche Bobois competition for young creators; he chairs theSODEC jury, he is a patron of the Micaction association to support an environmental initiative aiming to eradicate plastic bags which pollute nature, giving them a second life…

He uses his international renown to give lectures here there and everywhere, he is asked to contribute his vision and his expert opinion in a 100% Moroccan jury orchestrated by Mr. Said Ibrahimi, Chairman of the MoroccanFinance Board and his teams for the competition of the skyscraper of Casa Finance City which in the end selected Thom Mayne-Morphosis for his magnificent project…
